The vacation jaunts to Greenport started in 1936. After
ten years, John and Alexandria Drossos decided
to make Greenport their home. John opened and
owned the Coronet Luncheonette on Front and
Main Street, and after a year, Alexandria opened
the Fashion Dress Shop.
What originally
started as a "bed and breakfast" was later transformed
into the Drossos Motel and the Tick
Tock Miniature Golf, which has become a North Fork
landmark. A
restaurant and cocktail lounge were added to the
property by their son Nick.
In the summer
of 1980, Min and Gus Costas (John and Alexandria's
daughter and son-in-law) retired from their city
careers to take over the day to day operation of
the Motel. They added their own touches, such as
a frozen custard stand and full service snack bar.
Today, the Drossos Motel has 15 units on a beautiful
landscape and a relaxing atmosphere. |
